Today I would like to share a little project I took up recently - making a pure MF character. I ended up creating barbarian who at lvl 86 has 1258 Magic Find (https://imgshare.io/images/2020/12/08/mf-barb.png). Below I'll briefly describe the build and answer the question - Is it worth it??
TL;DR: I made 1250 MF barb to run pits only. After 150 runs I've found Mang Song's Lesson and some other nice items but I am still not sure if this is worth it.
So the general idea was to create highest possible MF character and check how he does in terms of finding items compared to other characters with medicore MF. I choose barb because of his hork ability which adds unique value to every run. Also, warcries and the huge HP pool allows you to completely ignore the resistances (I haven't even done any Anya quests). Warcries also buff your merc, who does all the job adding some MF to the party.

1. Skill tree build

You max your Battle Orders, Battle Comands and put enough points into hork so that it has 50+ chance. It should be around lvl 20-something with +skills included. Investing more skills into hork is not efficent because it has 52% of success on lvl 21 and 60% success on lvl 60. I also put enough points to have Battle Cry at lvl 20 (with +skills) which has -25% phys resistance. This helps a bit with clear speed and travincal immunities. Other than that you put some points in Natural Resistances and Increase Speed. Honestly it is totally up to you how you distribute those points. Having natural resistances lvl 10 (with +skills) gives me +56 reistances and results in around -8 fr, cr, lr. It is not much but makes you tanky enough to tp in those packs and not die instantly. I prefered to put the rest in Increased speed as you run around very much.

1. Item build

• 40% mf IK helm socketed with 2 topazes
• 32 mf, 17 all resist amulet
• 2x ali baba with 2x ists each
• Perfect skullder's with ptopaz
• 32 chance guards
• 39 goldwrap
• 48 wartravs
• perfect (both ar and mf) nagel
• 35 mf nagel
• Spellsteel on switch
• Torch, 2 self found warcries skillers and a lot of 7xmf SCs

Merc: Full IK set with 6x ISTed maul, ptopaz armor and 2x ptopaz helm
As you can see there is some room for improvement and all in all you should be able to reach as much as ~1500 MF. But as you can see on this chart (https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/images/9/97/Magic-find-diminishing-returns.jpg) there is very little difference between 1000, 1250 and 1500 MF regarding Unique drops.

1. Gameplay

So you merc is a killer and you are his bit**. Use spellsteel's blink to get to tamoe highland and walk to pits. Blink into elite and champion packs, change to ali babas and let your merc swing his sword 3 times. Then hork, gather loot and move on.
I focused only on elite and champion packs since they can drop highest level items. Please note that your merc does the finishing blows so his MF is added to yours.
Between the pit runs I ocasionally did some travincal runs but I must say this build is not optimal for this. While in pits most monsters have cold immune, the travincal ones very often explode due to IK's cold damage. The clear is pretty fast - around 1:30 with horks but I think its not worth it due to not all bodies being possible to hork.

1. 150 pit runs results

So with this setup your runs (from the moment you enter the game, to the moment you close the game) take from 2:30 up to 4:00 minutes depending on the map. Avarage speed is 3 minutes - this includes repairing your Spellsteel at charsi (once very run), clearing, horking, opening the chest in lvl 2. Below you can find my drops. In the list I included runes above pul and items notified by Kryszard's loot filter. Other than that I've found couple of trangs/gris armors, IK/tal rasha set pieces, whole mavina's set, a bunch of useless uniques, WSS shards and a lots of gold.

Run 26 - Rainbow facet 4/4 poison run 40 - mal rune run 53 - pul rune run 63 - pul rune run 67 - halaberd's reign run 75 - unique ring - nagel run 81 - occulus run 83 - !!!!!! mang song's !!!!!! run 85 - medusa gaze 1 skill run 90 - !!!!!! 39 life shape shift skiller !!!!!! run 95 - another trangs armor... this time gave it a try and rolled 3 soc with corrupt! run 124 - gerke's sanctuary 30 res run 126 - pul rune run 128 - kira's guardian 9/10/9 run 147 - stormshield run 148 - string of ears 

As you can see, the results are pretty good but not astonishing. I found my first Mang song's, a huge value of ETH Cranium Basher and a GG shape shift skiller. Other than that there were a lot of empty runs. The thing is we should compare the 150 runs of this build vs 150 runs of another build. I believe this would, on avarage, have better results. But on the other hand, well equipped singer or sorc can do the runs in half of this time probably. But then again, they wont have so much MF. So I guess time/loot wise it all evens at the end of the day. Well equiped sorc does lets say 300 runs in that time and I believe with 200-300 mf she can find just as good items.
What I am salty about is the lack of HRs. Of course, MF does not affect the runes drop but this is the most unlucky season in terms of HR drops for me ever. I have a 91 lvl sorc and this 86 lvl barb, done houndrets of Chaos, pits, AT, baal, you name it. And my only HR (I consider runes vex and above as HRs) drop was a Cham rune. Just sick sick RNG.

1. Conclusion

Is it worth to make 1200+ mf barb? - Well... Not sure. This could be also called the casino barb since every monster pack and every hork gives you that rush since with this much MF the possibility of a GG drop is relatively high. And this is fun part. Other than that the build is a bit dull to play. I created this more for fun and a reasearch itself than making a tons of HRs on it.

Stopped in last night (Wednesday) about 10:30 p.m.
I think they have 7 tables. 4 were open. One was $25. I found a spot SR2 at a $15 table. I think the other 2 tables were $15 as well. I think I was the 8th player, 4 on each side.
Bought in for $200 and table was choppy. I got down to about $120 playing mostly $18 6/8 with come betting until I had 4 or 5 numbers up.
Eventually I started to mix in DNPs when the table was not doing well and the dice were at the end of the table. I layed $6 a few times and made all of those. A few yo's hurt, though.
My first time shooting was point, place 6/8, come bet, ace-deuce, another come bet, another number, seven out. Lost $81. Second time not much better. One shooter made me a little and a couple more DNP bets worked.
Guy arrives and buys in for $3,000 with a marker. Hits a couple of box numbers. Dice come to me.
Set the point at 5. Place 6/8, come bet. Start hitting a mix of 5/6/8s while a few more numbers go up and I'm on 5 numbers and continually come betting. I start putting odds down as I keep hitting numbers. And eventually Im collecting on those and got to the point that i had odds of $10 on 4/5/9, $5 on 10, and $15 each on 6/8. Hit a few more numbers then rolled an ace deuce and lost the come bet. I turned off all my odds and sevened out on the next roll.
I wss up to about $325. Played a couple more shooters and colored up for $283.
Casino is no smoking. Tables have no hop bets and no A/T/S or stuff like that. Very, very basic layout. Very convenient to both I-95 and BWI Parkway, and actually much closer to Baltimore than to DC.

I am in shock of what is going on there on the augur platform. Seriously, in the past, I saw numbers of markets in centralized platforms that had some wording inaccuracies, guess what - not a single bettor, nor those who created the market had a problem validating it. Why is this such a huge issue on a decentralized platform, when the winning outcome is so obvious (to the bettors for sure)?

I read some ridiculous points about breaking the expiration rule. Well, I am here to inform you that Augur is a decentralized platform. So... fuck centralized rule, ok? Even those who created Augur told you that the market will be likely invalid. Not 100% invalid. Augur is each and everyone of you, and you have the right to decide that given market is not ambiguous enough to claim it invalid. Why are you rewarding some gray eminence instead of onest bettors?

The fact is most markets require some common sense to interpret and almost all markets could be argued invalid on some technical grounds if common sense and common knowledge is thrown out. The main issue here is the resolution period BEGINNING an hour before the end of year but there are also those arguing that because it said $1000 instead of USD $1000 it should be invalid. But of course USD in an acronym which could be interpreting multiple ways so we really need to write out the whole country name. Of course that is nonsense but my point is that the obvious shelling point for the interpretation of $ is USD $. Similarly, despite the technical fact that the reporting period BEGAN (but could not have finished) a few min before the end of the year, there is a more important overarching notion here that obviously ETH closed far below $1000 at the end of the year. That is the common sense fact that should be the overriding guiding light here. Everyone can very easily interpret the meaning and intent of this market, the market price traded close to 0 and its probability closely tracked the movement of ETH. People were actually using this market to answer the intended question! We all know that there is nothing actually ambiguous about this market. There will always be ways to find imperfections in the market wording but we need to use common sense to resolve these markets.

As reporters we serve the augur betting community. Bettors are 1) providing liquidity 2) locking their coins for extended periods 3) talking to other potential bettors about their experience. None of these are light actions.
Augur reporters should aim to quickly resolve the true spirit of a bet unless the description is so confusing there is no reasonable way to a Schelling point. We should never resolve INVALID unless the other outcomes are too ugly to select. In this case anything but resolving NO is a travesty.
The Schelling point for $ is clearly USD. Are there even other $ signed currencies that would have resolved ETH over $1000?
The expiration time is on the last day of the year just an hour from midnight which is exactly "at the end of 2018". It seems clear and obvious that using the USD price at the exact time of expiration makes sense to everyone who was betting. Why are reporters so conflicted?
Resolving INVALID does not refund bettors but is "divided evenly among each Outcome" (from the Augur documentation). This is being used by scammers and we now have scammers openly bragging about scamming our betting clients. See:

There are other Ethereum betting markets on Augur now that have the same setup. The outcome is obvious to everyone betting except some Augur reporters.

Came across this market and it occurred to me that this is highly game-able. The market is about how much open interest the market itself will have next friday (e.g. a recursive market):

This strikes me as an interesting way to design markets that sort of bootstrap open interest on Augur itself, and a few questions come to mind:
Are there precedents for recursive markets? Haven’t seen any before.
Is there a strategy for whales to win here? I guess if it goes unnoticed then option A wins, and some people may bet on that (myself included). But if enough people do, then the next outcome looks pretty good, and so on...

Arguments for Invalid:

• ESPN gives different answers depending on which page you look at. Some pages even give different results depending on your geographical location. Reporters are expected to use the resolution source as the single source of truth. Any market using an unreliable resolution source like ESPN is invalid.
• Augur is a global community, and any market which does not specify a timezone is invalid.
• Augur is not just for prediction markets. It is acceptable to create markets after an event has already occurred. The creator may not be an English speaker and may have misunderstood the meaning of "will". Therefore, there is no way to know which game on Oct. 27th this market was about.
• Reporters should not have to think about things like creation time or timezones. Markets like this are intentionally confusing and should resolve as invalid to discourage people from trading on them.

I have created a valid market so newbies can trade safely on the price of ETHUSD over the next week. "Ethereum Price at Close of April 12, 2019"

It is valid because it specifies the resolution source and the precise trading pair ETH USD and the result will be known on April 12 which is before the "expiry date" which is the beginning of the judgment phase aka reporting phase. For these reasons I believe the market is valid and safe to trade. Hopefully you can read below that others will confirm this market is valid.

There is also another valid "Ethereum End of April" market but be aware there is also an identical clone which is invalid "Ethereum End of April" market. Both of these markets were created by Augurs pet scammer Poyo so perhaps its best to not give his markets liquidty.

I find Decred's governance model fascinating and enjoy tracking activity.
I also think one of Augur's best use case might be creating prediction markets pertaining to on-chain participation. These markets can effectively serve as general bounties intended to influence on-chain matters.

As for the process: when one submits a public proposal an admin makes sure it isn't spam and then it is presented to the community to debate, providing signaling for whether or not the proposal has a realistic chance of being approved. Then, if the reception seems promising, the proposer can authorize their proposal for voting and await an admin's final approval. Then a 1 week period for voting commences. I'm sure most of you know this but just providing it in case.

There are currently no active proposals on Politeia. There is one proposal in the "pre-voting" stage which has not yet been authorized for voting by its respective proposer.

My reason for doing this is to experiment with the prospect of using unstoppable prediction markets to, in this case, prompt an increase in Decred's proposal volume. It seems as if the PM's I've made are the first of their kind. Wanted to bring this to your guys' attention and hear your thoughts.

What is the definition of a human?
If someone has been significantly physically augmented, so they can survive on Mars without a spacesuit which today's humans require, will they be considered human?
What if an Avatar human body is grown on mars, and someone's consciousness is communicated, then deposited into that body on Mars?

Hello Augur friends. I used Augur to degen the 2018 House election in what was a controversial market. I interacted with the contract 5 times, plus one other mystery transaction that I don't quite understand. I used Augur's IPFS web app + Metamask + Augur's node to place these wagers. I was hoping a knowledgable lad could tell me where I made a mistake, or where my funds went, or potentially how I could recover them

The Augur app tells me my PnL is –1.27 ETH, which is correct, but I'd paid the contract about 7 ETH and expected to get back a bunch after the market resolved. This txn above is the one to send ETH to the address 0x97c00b92704e9235d99b3b2ab07adeee9d95d6d0. However, the address has a ton of this SHARE token. Then, there's a few transactions right afterward from the 0x97 address to the Augur contract. So, I'm not really sure what to make of this

This is likely a new kind of scam which is valid at design but has a high probability of becoming invalid. It was fairly easy to expect that at least 2 of the players in the outcome list would score a goal.

Have for being contested 10 times? It isn't an ambiguous question. It is defined well as the last trade on a particular exchange for the day. I'm on the losing side of this from months ago and just want it resolved.
