In the next couple weeks, Mountain Crest Acquisition Corp is taking Playboy public. The existing ticker MCAC will become PLBY. Special purpose acquisition companies have taken private companies public in recent months with great success. I believe this will be no exception. Notably, Playboy is profitable and has skyrocketing revenue going into a transformational growth phase.
Porn - First and foremost, let's talk about porn. I know what you guys are thinking. “Porno mags are dead. Why would I want to invest in something like that? Gambling - Some of you might recognize the Playboy brand from gambling trips to places like Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Cancun, London or Macau. They’ve been in the gambling biz for decades through their casinos, clubs, and licensed gaming products. They see the writing on the wall. COVID is accelerating the transition to digital, application based GAMBLING. That’s right. What we are doing on Robinhood with risky options is gambling, and the only reason regulators might give a shit anymore is because we are making too much money. Cannabis - If you’ve ever read through a Playboy magazine, you know they’ve had a positive relationship with cannabis for many years. As of September 2020, Playboy has made a major shift into the cannabis space. Too good to be true you say? Check their website. Playboy currently sells a range of CBD products. This is a good sign. Federal hemp products, which these most likely are, can be mailed across state lines and most importantly for a company like Playboy, can operate through a traditional banking institution. CBD products are usually the first step towards the cannabis space for large companies. This speaks to their ability to maintain a financially solvent company throughout the transition phase to the aforementioned areas. They’d say some fancy shit like “expanded business model to encompass four key revenue streams: Sexual Wellness, Style & Apparel, Gaming & Lifestyle, and Beauty & Grooming.” I hear “we’re just biding our time with these trinkets until those dollar dollar bill y’all markets are fully up and running.” But the truth is these existing revenue streams are profitable, scalable, and rapidly expanding Playboy’s e-commerce segment around the world.

Ben “The Bridge” Kohn is an interesting guy. He’s the connection between Rizvi Traverse and Playboy. He’s both CEO of Playboy and was previously Managing Partner at Rizvi Traverse. Ben seems to be the voice of the Playboy-Rizvi partnership, which makes sense with Suhail’s privacy concerns. Kohn said this:

These guys are good. They have a proven track record of success across multiple industries. Connections and money run deep with all of these guys. I don’t think they’re in the game to lose.
I was going to write a couple more paragraphs about why you should have a look at this but really the best thing you can do is read this SEC filing from a couple days ago. It explains the situation in far better detail. Specifically, look to page 137 and read through their strategy. Also, look at their ownership percentages and compensation plans including the stock options and their prices. The financials look great, revenue is up 90% Q3, and it looks like a bright future.

I’m hesitant to attach this because his position seems short term, but I’m going to with a warning because he does hit on some good points (two are below his link) and he’s got a sizable position in this thing (500k+ on margin, I think). Current Cultural Significance and Meme Value: A year ago I wouldn’t have included this section but the events from the last several weeks (even going back to tsla) have proven that a company’s ability to meme and/or gain social network popularity can have an effect. Tik-tok, Snapchat, Twitch, Reddit, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter. They all have Playboy stuff on them. Kids in middle and highschool know what Playboy is but will likely never see or touch one of the magazines in person. They’ll have a Playboy hoodie though. Crazy huh? A lot like GME, PLBY would hugely benefit from meme-value stock interest to drive engagement towards their new business model while also building strategic coffers. This interest may not directly and/or significantly move the stock price but can generate significant interest from larger players who will.
Bull Case: The year is 2025. Playboy is now the world leader pleasure brand. They began by offering Playboy licensed gaming products, including gambling products, direct to consumers through existing names. By 2022, demand has skyrocketed and Playboy has designed and released their own gambling platforms. In 2025, they are also a leading cannabis brand in the United States and Canada with proprietary strains and products geared towards sexual wellness. Cannabis was legalized in the US in 2023 when President Biden got glaucoma but had success with cannabis treatment. He personally pushes for cannabis legalization as he steps out of office after his first term. Playboy has also grown their brand in China and India to multi-billion per year markets. The stock goes up from 11ish to 100ish and everyone makes big gains buying somewhere along the way.
Bear Case: The United States does a complete 180 on marijuana and gambling. Not that exciting, but this thread just reminded me of when I worked as a cage cashier at a casino.
A man walked up and asked my co-worked and me about some kind of promotion going on with the casino's club. We gave him a confused look and I said, "I'm sorry, sir, you'll have to check with the club. We don't know."
"You work here don't you? How can you not know?" he demanded.
Admittedly, this job would have me pissed 10 minutes in, so through a grit toothed smile I responded, "Not. My. Department."
"That's stupid!" he shouted, and stormed off across the casino to the club.
I called over to warn them and the girl who answered just said, "Yeah... He's here." lol We encountered so many rude and pissy people like that on the daily.

Is it worth the money?.
That's subjective. Is there €69.99 worth of gameplay, fun and hijinks?. Yes there is.
Its not what many believed it would be. But i came in to this with zero expectations and only seeing the reveal trailer all that time back. Every games marketing PR goes into overdrive these days and every year the PR cycle gets a little worse. And the userbases expectations become just as inflated as the pre-release gameplay claims. Its a vicious cycle.
The city is a joy to explore. Its like a open world mirrors edge for climbing and finding unique ways into objectives or just to explore. There are definite optimizations that need to be implemented as some parts of town are just FPS killer regardless of your system.
You can see even coming in relatively expectation free that they where striving to hit some high notes in gameplay and character development.
It falls short in many areas.

• Story,

Honestly i am not that far into the main story line. I wanted to save it and do the side stuff. Which has been fun, Some gigs are better than others. And its a worthwhile time sink in my opinion.
But speaking only of Act 1. Please restore the obviously deleted content here. That was too quick and a waste of potential. You cannot expect us to be emotionally invested when things are moving so quick. Respect the characters and story you are trying to tell.

• Pedestrian AI

So so dumb. Great filler for busy streets but they really do not have any random goals or interactions.
You can scan them down. But to this day i have never had one come up as wanted or one decide to get angry and try to fight me.

• Police AI

A lot has been said on this topic. I won't add much. Only that the police should NOT shoot on sight or become angered by passing them. Thats stupid. They do not even react to dropping a dead body in front of them or robbing a car. They only hate being stared at.
There is a sort of bounty system for enemies to see what they are worth and their threat level. We should also have this as the player. We should be (Through our actions) attaining a bounty on our heads. That increases based on our actions.
And wither a fixer or the ncpd should be putting hits out on us. To keep us on edge in nightcity and have us watching over our shoulders. It would be a great way to have unique random encounters with mercs.
We should have had more elite units at high levels of NCPD alert. They tend to show them hanging around or in cutscenes as part of side gigs but rarely deployed on the street against you.

• General enemy AI.

They are not smart, they will usually only be a threat from power snipers that you do not see immediately. Its not balanced at all. But it is chaotic and fun.
Unlike most open world Action RPG's i found myself doing all the side gigs and the NCPD callouts and whatever randomness i stumbled on.
-Gangs.
The gangs are underwhelming and not threatening. We should see more random gang activity in the city like stalls, shops and resturaunts being held up. Or procedurally generated gang fights.
We should have a affiliation rank for each gang that is constantly in flux dependant on the services we provide for a gang and a negative impact depending on the services we render to another gang.
There should be gang specific rewards for helping them. And something of a territory system. It feels weird not to have that in this game.

• Bars, Casinos, clubs.

You can do better than this. The atmosphere is there but the functionality is not. We should be able to have some minigames. Cards, slots, or maybe even some BD style puzzle games with rewards at various tiers.
There is a lot of room to expand on this.

• Driving.

This should have been a skill tree. That was a wasted opportunity and the lack of customisation for any car is a damn shame. These cars are beautiful and we should have been able to make them our own on some level.

• Businesses.

We are supposed to want to become legends. Build a name and be remembered. We should have been able to rise to the point of being a fixer ourselves. Having information drop to us directly either via hints in the world or by talking to characters and unlocking missions that raised our Fixer rep and the ability to open an office that hosts our fixer service. Something like that.
And seriously where are the dang flying cars, even if we cannot fly them there should be a taxi service we can avail of on the fly for a nice view of the city. And the police should use them more. Or hell even their own damn cars to chase us. Seriously. Fix the police.

• Weapons.

They are good, they are fun, crafting is interesting. But really we should have had more attachments than scopes and silencers. Different mag types, round types. Just to invest you more in crafting and developing various weapon skills.

• Swimming.

Yeah its a city, this is low priority but still. Fix the water please. If you throw a body in, it acts like there is no water there at all. No spash, nothing dynamic about it. You would expect at least SOME boats on the rivers which would have added a lot to the general atmosphere.

• Consumables

Seriously, that is a lot of item variation with little to no effect difference between them. Kind of a shame given your history in the Witcher series and varied unique items and consumables.

• Gear

The clothes items are mostly, well.... not good from an aesthetic POV. You will have some funky funky characters walking around before you get something that makes you feel badass.
Crafting schematics are a pain to collect. Genuinely few and far between. And the shops will restock ones you already have and will not tell you that you own them already. Which is frustrating.

• Cyber skills/hacking

Really underrealized. We should have had far more control over the city and its assets via hacking. Maybe they did not want to be criticised for copying watchdogs or something but honestly. Hacking cars to force them to move or crash. Changing signal lights, hacking pedestrian implants to make them act out as a distraction. Or hacking a enemy to make them go berserk on their own guys.
Enemies should have visible grenades on their person that we can hack to set off while its attached to them. Or hack a enemy mech robot to fight for us. Or hack a turret to fight for us for a limited time and then overload.
There is so much room to expand and improve this game. But it is a joy to play as is, you just see where they started to push certain areas and then moved on. Never reaching something truly special.
It is in my eyes worth the money. There is plenty of content to chew on and out of my circles everyone's playstyle is different and builds are unique from one another. So it has enough RPG elements to tweak and play with.
I do hope they keep developing updating and fixing the title in the coming months. There is a real diamond here just waiting to be uncovered. They need to in order to have a hope of selling Cyberpunk 2078.

Hi, i think i totally fucked my relationship and need some advice.
Some back story: I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3.5 years. We met when i was 18 and he was 22. In the beginning of our relationship we experienced the honeymoon phase x10 lol. We were so obsessed with each other. As time went on my love grew, i trusted him as he did with me. He would go out a lot more since he was of age and i wasn’t. A few months into our relationship, he asked my permission if he could go on a guys trip to the casino/club for the night. I told him of course because i had trusted him. The next morning i woke up from a DM from a random girl going into detail about how she had slept with my boyfriend the night prior. I was devastated. I felt we were so in love and had such an amazing relationship, why would he do this to me? We broke up for a while but wound up getting back together later on. This is where my trust issues began. As time went on we grew closer and closer and became best friends. I would come over almost every night and spend the night with him. Weekends we would spend together too. There was a couple of other little things that he lied straight to my face about. They were personal things to him so that was his reasoning for lying but, it still made me have more issues with trust. He was an amazing boyfriend besides the few mistakes he made. I believe that i was an amazing girlfriend to him as well. I was always striving to make him the happiest possible. But, i still had these underlying issues with trust that literally would make me crazy at times. I would sometimes ask questions or need some reassurance and he would get mad. I just wanted him to help me get through the trust issues.
Fast forward to now, we’ve been arguing a little bit more and i even had suspicion that he was cheating on me. But, this suspicion could’ve been all made up in my head due to the issues with trust i was having. He told me he wanted to take a break from our relationship. I was crushed. I wanted to try to fix these deep rooted issues and work on them day by day but he doesn’t want that. He wants space and time to work on himself. I’m not sure what will happen in the long run but it seems like he doesn’t want anything to do with me.
I feel horrible. I know i should’ve put an end to the trust issues the second i got back with him after the cheating incident. I know i shouldn’t have been on his case so much. I know i shouldn’t have worried all the time about what he was doing. I was constantly overthinking. But at the end of the day he’s literally my person, my best friend, and we get along so amazing besides these problems.
I know the best thing i can do now is just try to focus on fixing myself to be the best i can be. But it’s so hard, i feel like i really fucked up. I constantly blamed him for things because i was just so hurt but looking back i feel like i could’ve done so many things differently. Now he wants space and a break from us but i feel like that’s just an easier way to say he’s moving on from us. He’s never once in our relationship threatened to leave or give up on us.
I don’t know what to do. Any advice at all would be so greatly appreciate. Thank you.
Edit: I’d like to add the cheating was never owned up to, it happened in 2018 and to this day he never admitted to it.

Booze cruisers, for those of you who might not be aware of the term, were the people who went on the ferries purely to pick up duty free alcohol. So I comply with his request. I raise myself on my tip toes and I press into his shoulders with all the might I can muster. He screams in front of all his mates and they stopped talking. And I innocently go "Oh sorry, I thought you liked it hard? Would you prefer medium pressure instead?" He nods and I move down to my standard no extra pressure technique. He paid me £20 for a ten minute massage and I left having done what was asked of me.
